Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Corporate Accountant will be part of a collaborative team of accounting professionals working closely together in the preparation and presentation of financial information for Brookfield Renewable Power. The Corporate Accountant will be involved in preparing financial information, integrating operations, budgeting, forecasting, performing analysis and dealing with accounting and other issues.

More specifically, the selected candidate will concentrate on the following areas of responsibility:

• Oversight and integration of Brazilian Operations;
• Responsible for the holding Company accounting and analysis;
• Participate in the annual budgeting process, including the analysis of operating and corporate expenses and the preparation of various management reports;
• Review monthly and quarterly foreign exchange analyses and respond to queries from Treasury or parent company;
• Provide support to the auditors during the interim review and year-end audit;
• Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards, policies and procedures;
• Liaise with tax and treasury related to various issues.

The Corporate Accountant will also be responsible for various accounting and financial projects and reports.

Candidate profile – Experience and qualifications:

• 3-5 years of progressive experience combined with a recognized professional accounting designation;
• Experience in the preparation of financial statements;
• Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP (US GAAP and IFRS an asset);
• Ability to manage demanding situations;
• Capable of working in a dynamic, fast pace environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities;
• Detail oriented combined with the ability to solve problems and use sound judgment;
• Strong communication skills (oral and written);
• Working knowledge of Cognos Controller consolidation software and/or Great Plains an asset;
• Working knowledge of French an asset (not required).
