Description:

Reporting to the VP of Finance of Brookfield Renewable Power Inc. (BRPI), the Director – Complex Transactions & Special Projects is primarily responsible for the management and oversight of all complex accounting transactions and projects of the Corporate Accounting and Reporting groups that are not in the ordinary course of day-to-day business. The Director – Complex Transactions & Special Projects leads a team responsible for researching all new accounting and reporting requirements and communicating their findings to the organization, as well as ensures that all accounting personnel affected by new standards receive appropriate training and providing direction to Senior Management on complex accounting matters.

The Director – Complex Transactions and Special Projects will have a key role in leading special projects such as the preparation of offering memorandums, the integration of assets in new markets where BRPI does not have current operations, and the planning and implementation of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) conversion process.

Candidate profile – Experience and qualifications:

  • CA with a minimum of 12 years of progressive experience;
  • Solid technical knowledge of Canadian GAAP (working knowledge of IFRS is an asset);
  • Proven experience working with complex accounting issues on a regular basis;
  • Strong leadership and project management skills; ability to provide direction and coaching to team members;
  • Ability to “think outside the box”, to work in a dynamic, fast pace environment and to adapt quickly and manage changing priorities;
  • Ability to “roll up” their sleeves and get involved at a detailed level to ensure accuracy and timeliness in all transaction/project matters;
  • Ability to effect and manage change positively;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (working knowledge of French an asset).
