Description: Reporting to the VP of Finance and leading a team of designated accounting professionals, the Director – Corporate Reporting is primarily responsible for the preparation of the consolidated financial statements and Management Discussion and Analyses, as well as coordinating the annual audits, of both Brookfield Renewable Power (BRPI) and Great Lakes Hydro Income Fund (GLHIF). In addition, the Director – Corporate Reporting is the ultimate owner of all materials prepared to communicate the performance of the companies to Senior Management and the Boards of Directors and for ensuring that adequate internal controls over financial reporting are in place and operating effectively.
Candidate profile – Experience and
qualifications:
- CA with a minimum of 12 years of progressive experience;
- Solid knowledge of Canadian GAAP, financial reporting requirements and internal controls (working knowledge of IFRS is an asset);
- Proven experience in working with auditors and overall management, in coordination of year-end audit related issues, in complex financial statement and note preparation as well as in writing a MD&A for a reporting issuer;
- Ability to deal effectively with both internal and external stakeholders and to influence other and gain their support;
- Strong oral and written communication skills are imperative (working knowledge of French an asset);
- Ability to “roll up” their sleeves and get involved at a detailed level to ensure accuracy and timeliness in all accounting matters combined with a strong ability to manage overall priorities;
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast pace environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities;
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to provide direction and coaching.
