ASSET MANAGER (Technical)

Description:
Reporting to the General Manager, the incumbent will be responsible
for directing and supervising the activities of the engineering
staff in the design, construction, maintenance and repair of company
projects, plants, systems and equipment.
More specifically, the Asset Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate the activities of the engineering staff
in preparing or analyzing designs, specifications, plans, estimates
and reports involved in company engineering and major maintenance
projects;
- Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies that may improve
operations, and develop recommendations accordingly. Confer with
Health & Safety Specialist, GM of System Control, Environmental & FERC
Compliance Specialists, engineering staff, purchasing and accounting
staff to determine safety engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness,
bid and contract process requirements, and to ensure compliance
with all applicable regulatory licenses, permits, and codes of
operation and conduct;
- Forecast capital and oversee 20 year capital expenditure budget
(including Major Maintenance) and prepare funding requests for
capital and repair jobs.
Candidate profile – Experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering;
- Minimum of seven years successful
project management experience in the hydropower industry;
- Thorough knowledge of statistical
process controls and CAD design software;
- Proficiency with Microsoft
Office Products including Project, Outlook, Word and Excel;
- Ability to read, analyze and
interpret engineering specifications, blueprints and drawings and
related technical procedures, and to effectively communicate findings
orally and in writing.
